I am 32 years old. I have been in retail since I was 16. I have worked for many different companies and have experienced many different things. Many people work in retail...and even though it isn't the most glamorous career, it has its moments.
I've created this blog to help vent my frustrations, to share those moments of joy, and to just really show the retail world from my POV.
Everywhere I have worked, I feel I have had fast success. I am patting myself on my back a bit, but my resume speaks for itself. On the downside, I have never really stayed anywhere long enough to reach my fullest potential. Whether it be because I need a bigger paycheck, moved out of state, or just needed a change, I never really experienced a career with one company.
Retail to me has always been about helping the customer. If there is any job out there that customer service was judge more...it would be a retail job. Majority of retailers have a Customer Service Desk with Customer Service positions and managers. There are customer service surveys, graphs, statistics, and so much more to gauge how good or bad a store or company's customer service is. But not every experience is judged or looked at; not every transaction or conversation is reviewed or surveyed, and now more then ever, social networking has taken over. Hate sites pop up left and right about people's bad experiences at stores. People are posting on Facebook and Twitter, sharing pictures of Instagram and reddit; Even employees of these companies chime in on working there.
I mean...I am even blogging about my job in retail.
I hope you enjoy my stories. I will keep them confidential as to what company I worked for and customers info.....I do need my job after all and do not want to get fired. There won't be any business secrets or insider trading that happens here...I learned to keep my mouth shut when it needs to be.
Enjoy
